If you are interested in college jobs, then the best place to find out about these jobs is at a college career fair. The main purpose of a college career fair is basically to bring students and potential employers together so that some of the brightest and most qualified students can secure college jobs that will eventually be of use to them when they start looking for a proper career.

What exactly are college jobs? College jobs are jobs that you work at while still attending college, and they might be jobs that you work while attending classes or they might come in the form of summer internships, where you work during the summer holidays. Whatever the case may be, college jobs are great for gaining much-needed experience about the working world while you are still in college and have the luxury to explore your career options at your leisure.

Most students, even those in college, remain in the dark about their future careers. They typically only have a vague idea of what they are going to do. For example, a student majoring in economics might have some thoughts of working as an economist in a company, but nothing more specific than that. Of course, this is definitely not the right way in which to approach your education with respect to your future career.

This is why your college career fair is so important in helping you find out about available college jobs. College jobs are excellent opportunities for you to see exactly what being part of the working world is like, and providing you with the experience of working in a particular industry. Of the various college jobs available to students, the most coveted and most rewarding are internships.

These are jobs that usually entail doing a lot of work for minimal or even no pay. Yet students fight desperately to secure internships because of what they can do for your career prospects. Internships are basically a method that companies use to test students who are viewed as potential employees. During their internships, these students are put to work just as any other worker in the company would be. The company can then evaluate how the students perform the tasks that regular employees perform as well. Those students who meet the companies’ standards are usually given offers of jobs when they graduate.

Your college career fair is the best way to get yourself noticed and admitted to a company under an internship. At every college career fair, company recruiters are on the lookout for talented students who might be eligible for internships, in the hopes that these students will eventually become valued employees once they graduate. If you are able to impress recruiters at your college career fair, then you stand a good chance of securing a valuable internship as well.

This is a great achievement, especially during these troubled times, as you could very well find yourself with a job offer on your plate before your even graduate – something that many people who have already graduate still do not have.

A level results were published this week, leaving hundreds of thousands of students celebrating or re-thinking their future.

Whilst millions will line up for induction at the UK’s universities, students are starting to realise that they can reach their dream career through apprenticeships or well planned jobs.

The BBC profiled some students who passed their A level exams and secured lucrative jobs across the country.

Das Birkamjit Gakhal earned himself an A, two Bs and a C at A level. After applying to university and being offered places on degrees, he has since decided he can achieve his ambition of becoming an accountant by working in relevant jobs whilst completing vocational qualifications. He will study for an Association of Accounting Technicians qualification, then study with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

“It’s a much quicker route than university – you become chartered in four years,” Das told The BBC. “Whereas if I went to university, it’s four years and then I’d still have to do my ACCA qualification, which normally takes two years.”

Das said record levels of debt and graduate unemployment deterred him from completing a degree: “I was worried about debt, about coming out with all that debt on my shoulders. And then you hear in the news that graduates are graduating … but they’re not able to find a job.”

Over 170,000 students will miss out on a place at university this year. As Channel 4 News reported, university isn’t the only option. A website dedicated to exploring post-A level options with students advised that everyone who received their results should discuss their options with someone they trust to ensure they embark on the right path.

By choosing jobs instead of degrees, students will be able to earn money instead of amass significant debts, they can get a head start on their career path which, as long as they work hard and are focused, can see them have a head start on their peers who spend three or four years in education only to graduate and face potentially massive levels of graduate unemployment.

There are not many options when it comes to jobs for college grads, even with your new degree. Many people think that as soon as you graduate college, doors will open and jobs will abound. However, the reality of the job market is that there are few jobs to choose from and it may be required for you to take a job you don’t necessarily want until the one you do want comes available.

Many college grads are hard at work finding a job in their field before they ever go to college or graduate. However, if you are one of the unlucky who does not have a job lined up after graduation, jobs for college grads can be hard to come by in your field. If you must complete an apprenticeship or internship in order to become licensed in your field, now is the time to find that position. There are state resources that you can use to help you find these positions including researching at your local library. For example, if you went to school to become an RN, you may contact your local health department to find out about any open internships in your city.

Jobs for college grads that require less skill or preparation can be found through your local job bank, which is found at all unemployment offices across the United States. The computerized network found in these offices gives access to jobs that are currently open, and gives you the opportunity to apply. You can go every day of the week and research the jobs for college grads that are available through this resource. However, if you are looking for a job in a specific field, there are better ways of finding them.

Getting into your local phone book and calling businesses that are closely related to or are directly in your field of study should be done. Ask about any open positions that may lead to a regular position in the facility. This will get your foot in the door, as many college grads know that getting the job of your dreams means you have to be the low man on the totem pole for a little while. Make at least 30 copies of your resume on good stock paper and send out to all the companies in your area that you are interested in working for. Remember to update your resume to reflect your new degree status, as this may mean the difference between a job that pays $5.75 an hour and your optimal pay scale.

Do not get discouraged if you don’t find the ideal job right out of college. There are many college grads that don’t make it to their ideal position for 5 years after graduation. This is not to say you will not land that perfect job, but don’t give up. Continue to send out your resume on a monthly basis to the same companies. Contact them only once a month, to follow up and ensure they received your resume, and inquire at that time about positions that are available.

Now more than ever there are more adults attending college. Some are experiencing a tumultuous time in their careers and are training for another career, while others are simply getting the education they need to begin a career. Whatever the cause, there are a shortage of jobs for those that are currently in college. College jobs are hard to come by, whether it be due to the schedule for classes or the lack of experience.

When attending school, college jobs can be found. The financial aid office at the school you attend can give you information on federal work study programs that you qualify for based on financial need. These jobs would help to pay part of your tuition, but you would also get a paycheck. If you need more than part time hours from a college job, it is best to seek employment outside the school.

For those who have prior work experience, finding a college job is less strenuous than for those with no experience in the workforce at all. For those persons who have no experience, you have to get experience somewhere. Contact your local job placement agency or temporary agency for an appointment. You will fill out paperwork that outlines the experience you have, which at this point is absolutely nil. The interviewer will ask for you to describe the kind of work you would like to have, and this is your chance to possibly get a job in the field you are studying. You will have to let them know whether you want part time or full time work, as well as the hours you are available due to school schedules. For the younger students, a personal life will have to be put on hold for the sake of having college jobs. Studying and working will take up most of the time you have outside of class, so it is important you manage your time well. The interviewer will help you find a job that will fit your schedule, should they have any companies available that are willing to accept those with little or no experience. This will probably be a factory job, or one where little skills are required so pay will not be in the highest brackets.

For those who have prior experience in the work force, college jobs will be easier to come by. The job you hold while in college is not important, as long as you finish school. If you have to take a job that you otherwise would not accept simply because you are in college, this is socially acceptable. Working at a skilled job while in college may be too much on the time constraints you will have placed on you, therefore finding a job in a local office or even doing an apprenticeship in some states will allow you to have income. Note that there are some careers that require your apprenticeship to be completed prior to or after school, and not during attendance. College jobs that are desirable are hard to come by, but they are available for those with the skill set to manage them.
